6825 Colton was a complete remodel and understory expansion of a 1950’s ranch house set on a steep down-sloping site in the Oakland Hills. The objective was to simplify the floor plan, maximize views and expand outdoor and indoor living spaces for entertaining. The central idea was to connect the levels and define spaces with a language of simple geometric volumes and planes. A material palette of dark wood, stained concrete, and blackened metal with stone accents provides a refined modern industrial touch that reflets the homeowner’s casual modern aesthetic
